Low emission zone Munich: Emissions sticker required to drive in downtown Munich
moc
As of October 1, 2008, the city of Munich is a low emission zone. So-called Emissions Stickers (red, yellow or green) are required to drive in the low emission zone. This also applies to anyone visiting the city. All streets located inside the "Mittlerer Ring" are considered to be in the low emission zone, for which a sticker is required. The "Mittlerer Ring" itself is not in the low emission zone.

Due to this change, Messe München International and DEKRA have set up a service point for exhibitors and visitors. Emissions stickers may be purchased at DEKRA for EUR 5.00.

Ban on truck/lorry traffic in Munich
moc
As part of the city of Munich's clean-air initiative, through traffic of trucks/lorries weighing more than 3.5 tons is no longer permitted in the city. The ban concept calls for through traffic of trucks/lorries to be diverted to the A99 motorway. As a rule, roadblocks directly at the city limits will not be used. Instead, traffic will be diverted or rerouted by warning signs in outlying areas, by prohibitive signs within the city limits (sign 253 of the German road-traffic regulations with the addition "Lieferverkehr frei" (delivery vehicles only)) and by detour signs indicating the way to the nearest motorway.

Effect on vehicles making deliveries to the trade-fair center:
The vehicle ban expressly permits delivery vehicles whose point of origin or destination is within Munich. As a result, deliveries to and from the M,O,C, are not affected by the vehicle ban. However, trucks/lorries whose destinations are outside of Munich may not take the A9 motorway toward Munich when leaving the M,O,C, because doing so would make them "through traffic".
